Description
The Ultimate Extruder Upgrade for Creality K2 Series
The Phaetus DXC2 is a purpose-built extruder replacement for the Creality K2, K2 Pro, and K2 Plus. Co-developed by Phaetus and D3vil Design, it addresses the limitations of the stock extruder with a completely redesigned dual-gear drive system, patented magnetic snap maintenance, and an integrated filament cutter — delivering up to 300% longer service life and reliable extrusion across everything from soft TPU 65A to abrasive carbon fibre composites.
If you’ve experienced inconsistent feeding, premature gear wear, or frustrating maintenance sessions on your K2, the DXC2 is the upgrade that fixes it.
Patented Magnetic Snap System – Tool-Free Maintenance
The DXC2 features a patented magnetic snap structure that lets you open the extruder front in one second — no screws, no tools, no fiddling. This makes cleaning, inspecting gears, and clearing jams faster than any other extruder on the market. Snap it open, sort the issue, snap it closed, and you’re printing again.
D3vil Fang Cutter System
The integrated filament cutter uses a high-rigidity aluminium alloy frame with DLC-coated tool steel blades. The diamond-like carbon coating provides exceptional hardness, wear resistance, and self-lubrication — engineered specifically for cutting carbon fibre and other reinforced filaments cleanly without dulling over time. The modular metal frame ensures cutting stability print after print.
RNC Coated Gears – Built for Abrasive Filaments
The patented RNC ultra-wear-resistant coated gears achieve a hardness of HV3300, far exceeding standard stainless steel (HV200+) and even hardened steel (HV700+). This translates to a gear life up to three times longer than stock, with consistent grip and precise filament control even after thousands of hours of printing with CF, GF, and other abrasive materials.
Adaptive Pressure Rocking Arm
The self-adjusting pressure arm automatically adapts to different filament hardnesses without manual tweaking. Whether you’re printing soft TPU 65A or rigid carbon fibre composites, the DXC2 maintains consistent extrusion pressure and stable feeding. This makes multi-material printing and AMS-style filament switching more reliable, with fewer failed prints from feeding issues.
Open-Frame Cooling Architecture
The DXC2 uses an open-frame design with a built-in circular airflow duct that optimises cooling around the extruder gears and motor. Better thermal management means more consistent extrusion during long prints and reduced heat creep in high-temperature printing sessions.
Compatibility & Installation
The Phaetus DXC2 is compatible with the Creality K2, K2 Pro, and K2 Plus. It is not compatible with the K2 SE.
Installation requires a chain riser for mechanical alignment — this part is not included but can be 3D printed ahead of time. Files and full installation details are available on the DXC2 GitHub page. The DXC2 also includes an optimised cooling duct and front cover, as the original K2 front cover is not compatible.
After installation, you will need to update your Klipper configuration to adjust the cutter and retraction macros. Step-by-step instructions are included in the manual — do not skip this step, as the DXC2 requires different cut and retract values to the stock extruder.
If you experience cutter calibration issues after installing the DXC2, there are two approaches that can resolve it. Either reinstall the stock extruder temporarily and re-run the cutter calibration through the standard process, or if you have already run cutter calibration with the DXC2 installed, you can restore previous cutter position values from an earlier Klipper configuration backup — open a backup from before the DXC2 installation and use those values instead.

Note: The DXC2 is designed exclusively for the K2 series. For the K1, K1C, K1 SE, and K1 Max, see the original Phaetus DXC extruder.
