Description

Basic Polycarbonate PC+ — Engineering Strength Without the Printing Headaches

Basic PC+ blends polycarbonate with 3% PET to deliver a powerful combination of strength, heat resistance, and improved printability for demanding applications. The PET infusion enhances layer bonding, reduces brittleness, and improves flow characteristics, making this material significantly easier to print than standard unmodified polycarbonate while retaining PC’s exceptional mechanical performance.

Expect high impact resistance, excellent dimensional stability, and reliable performance in high-temperature environments — ideal for functional prototypes, automotive components, tooling, and end-use parts that must withstand real-world stress.

Why PC+ Over Standard Polycarbonate?

Pure polycarbonate is one of the strongest FDM materials, but it’s also one of the hardest to print — heavy warping, poor layer adhesion, and demanding temperature requirements. The 3% PET blend in PC+ addresses these issues by improving melt flow and layer bonding, making it print cleaner and more reliably than unmodified PC, with less warping and fewer failed prints.

Where PC+ Fits in the Filament Lineup

Basic PC+ sits above PETG and ABS in heat resistance and impact strength, while remaining more approachable to print than raw polycarbonate. If you need higher performance still — additional stiffness, a matte finish, and abrasion resistance for tooling and jigs — see our Basic PC+ CF Carbon Fiber variant, which adds chopped carbon fibre reinforcement.

Applications

Functional prototypes under mechanical and thermal stress, automotive components — under-bonnet brackets, ducting, heat shields, tooling jigs, fixtures, and alignment tools, chemical-resistant enclosures and housings, high-temperature electrical and electronic housings, end-use parts that need to survive impacts, heat, and chemical exposure.

Print Settings

Nozzle temperature: 260–300°C — requires an all-metal hotend rated for these temperatures
Bed temperature: 100–120°C — PEI or garolite surface recommended
Print speed: 50–200 mm/s
Enclosure: strongly recommended — reduces warping and improves layer adhesion
Nozzle: standard brass or hardened steel — no abrasive fillers, brass is fine
Drying: 75–100°C for 6+ hours before printing — PC absorbs moisture and wet filament causes bubbling and poor layer adhesion
Spool: cardboard — AMS compatible
