Description
Bambu Lab PLA Matte Refill — Same Matte Finish, No Spool
Bambu Lab PLA Matte Refill is the same RFID-enabled, matte-finish PLA as the standard spool version — without the plastic spool. The filament ships as a coil with an RFID tag, ready to be loaded onto a Bambu Lab Reusable Spool that you already own. Less packaging, less plastic waste, and a lower price per roll.
If you’ve already bought your first Bambu Lab PLA Matte on a spool, every roll after that can be a refill.
How Refills Work
The refill arrives as a tightly wound filament coil without a spool. Open your Bambu Lab Reusable Spool (the empty spool from a previous Bambu Lab filament purchase), drop the refill coil in, close the spool, and load it into the AMS. The RFID tag on the refill is read by the AMS just like a standard spool — all auto-settings work exactly the same.
Same RFID, Same Matte Quality
The refill contains the identical Bambu Lab PLA Matte formulation as the spool version — same ±0.03 mm tolerance, same smooth non-reflective matte finish, same fine-tuned print parameters, same colour consistency, and the same RFID chip with embedded settings. The only difference is the packaging.
Why Matte PLA?
Standard glossy PLA reflects light off every layer line, making print artefacts clearly visible. Matte PLA absorbs light instead, dramatically reducing layer line visibility and giving prints a smooth, refined appearance straight off the build plate. The curated colour palette of over 20 soft, muted tones is designed specifically to complement the matte finish — charcoal black, bone white, ash grey, terracotta, lilac purple, sakura pink, mandarin orange, and more.
Refill vs Spool — Which to Buy
First Purchase
Buy the standard Bambu Lab PLA Matte with spool. You need at least one Bambu Lab Reusable Spool to use refills.
Every Purchase After
Buy refills. Same filament, lower price, less waste. Keep your reusable spool and swap in new refill coils as needed.
Print Settings
All settings are configured automatically via RFID when loaded into the AMS. For manual configuration: nozzle temperature approximately 210–230°C, print speed up to 270 mm/s, drying at 55°C for 8 hours if moisture issues appear. Compatible with Cool Plate SuperTack, Smooth PEI, and Textured PEI build plates.
