Bambu Lab AMS 2 Pro Switching Adapter — Power for the Drying Function

This genuine Bambu Lab Switching Adapter supplies the additional power the AMS 2 Pro needs to run its built-in filament drying function across the Bambu Lab printer range. Without it, the AMS 2 Pro can still handle standard multi-material printing on these platforms, but the drying function either won’t operate correctly or will run at reduced power — insufficient for genuinely drying moisture-sensitive filaments.

Do You Actually Need One?

X1 / P1 / A1 Series

If you want to use the AMS 2 Pro’s drying function on any X1, P1, or A1 series printer, each AMS 2 Pro unit requires its own Switching Adapter. This applies whether you’re running one AMS 2 Pro or several — every unit with drying enabled needs its own adapter.

P2 / X2D Series

The Switching Adapter is needed on P2 and X2D printers specifically to enable simultaneous drying and printing. Without it, the AMS 2 Pro’s drying function may not sustain full power while the printer is actively printing at the same time.

H2D / H2S Series

These printers can power and dry a single AMS 2 Pro unit directly — no additional adapter required. If you connect multiple AMS 2 Pro units and want the drying function active on more than one simultaneously, each additional unit beyond the first still needs its own Switching Adapter.

Why Power Matters for Drying

Filament drying draws meaningfully more power than standard multi-material feeding. On platforms where the standard connection doesn’t supply enough power for drying, the AMS 2 Pro may automatically reduce power output, leading to incomplete or insufficient drying. The Switching Adapter provides the dedicated power supply the drying function actually needs to work as intended — including sustaining full drying power while a print is running.

Official Accessory Only

The Switching Adapter is rated at 24V 4A. Use official Bambu Lab accessories only — a third-party or incorrectly rated adapter can damage the AMS 2 Pro or create a safety risk. This is not a generic USB-C or barrel-jack power supply; it’s a specific component engineered for the AMS 2 Pro’s power requirements.
