Bambu Lab Filament Buffer — H2D [SA009]

This genuine Bambu Lab Filament Buffer regulates filament movement on the H2D and H2C, ensuring an appropriate and stable supply of filament to the hotend. It streamlines the path from spool or AMS to extruder, preventing the tangles, jams, and feeding inconsistencies that interrupt otherwise reliable prints.

What the Filament Buffer Does

The buffer consists of sliders, springs, and a Hall sensor system that continuously monitors filament tension and communicates with the AMS for precise feeding control. As filament moves toward the extruder, the dual slider system absorbs tension variations in real time, keeping the feed smooth and stable regardless of AMS activity or retraction events during printing.

Intelligent Detection Built In

Beyond tension regulation, the Filament Buffer provides two key detection functions: a filament sensor that detects whether filament is passing through or has broken, and tangle detection that monitors an external spool for tangles when printing without the AMS connected. This catches feeding problems early, stopping a print before material and time are wasted on a snapped or snagged filament.

Built Into the Top Cover

The buffer is installed in the printer’s top cover as part of the H2D’s standard filament path — not an optional add-on, but a core component the printer relies on for every print, whether feeding from the AMS or a single external spool.

When to Replace

Inconsistent extrusion traced to filament tension rather than the hotend or nozzle, failure to detect filament presence or breaks, missed tangle detection on external spools when not using the AMS, physical damage to the sliders, springs, or housing, and as part of general maintenance when servicing the H2D’s filament feed path.

Important: this part is specific to the H2D / H2C. The H2S and H2S Laser use a different filament buffer (part SA010, listed separately) — check you’re ordering the correct version for your printer, as fitment differs between models even though the part looks similar.
