The Flashforge Creator 5 is a 4-toolhead tool-changer 3D printer that takes a fundamentally different approach to multi-colour printing. Instead of pushing multiple filaments through a single nozzle (like the Bambu Lab AMS), the Creator 5 physically swaps between four independent toolheads — each with its own nozzle, heater, and filament path. The result is near-zero purge waste, dramatically faster colour changes, and the ability to mix different materials in a single print.

FlashSwap — 4 Toolheads, ~7 Second Swap

The FlashSwap system docks and swaps toolheads in approximately 7 seconds — demonstrated live by Flashforge at TCT Asia 2026. When a colour or material change is needed, the active toolhead parks in the right-side dock and a new one picks up exactly where it left off. Each toolhead is a complete, independent printing system with its own hardened steel nozzle, heater, and filament feed.

Because there’s no shared nozzle, there’s no filament mixing, no purge tower, and no wasted material between colours. A small prime tower is still recommended to clear residual nozzle ooze, but the waste is dramatically less — Flashforge claims up to 84% less waste than AMS-style systems.

Up to 500% Faster Multi-Colour

AMS and MMU systems spend 30–90+ seconds per filament change — retracting, loading, purging, and priming. Multiply that by hundreds of colour swaps in a complex model and the time adds up fast. The Creator 5’s physical tool swap takes ~7 seconds with no purge cycle, making multi-colour prints up to 500% faster than single-nozzle multi-material systems.

600 mm/s — CoreXY Performance

The Creator 5 uses a CoreXY motion system capable of 600 mm/s print speed with 30,000 mm/s² acceleration. Smart compensation features including automatic vibration and flow compensation ensure print quality at speed. Fully automatic calibration and multi-point mesh bed levelling handle setup with minimal user intervention.

Multi-Material in One Print

Four independent toolheads mean you can mix different materials in a single print — not just colours. Print PLA with PVA soluble supports, combine rigid and flexible materials, or use different nozzle sizes on different toolheads for speed and detail in the same model. Each toolhead accepts 0.25 mm, 0.4 mm, 0.6 mm, and 0.8 mm nozzles.

Open-Frame — For Standard Materials

The Creator 5 is an open-frame printer optimised for PLA, PETG, TPU, PVA, and other materials that don’t require a heated chamber. For engineering materials like ABS, ASA, PC, PA, and PA-CF that need enclosed printing, see the Creator 5 Pro.

Important: The Creator 5 cannot be upgraded to the Creator 5 Pro. They are structurally different machines sold separately.

Fleet Management

Flash Studio software supports fleet management for multiple Creator 5 printers — ideal for print farms and production environments. Combined with the 1080p camera (30fps), dual-band Wi-Fi (2.4 + 5 GHz), LAN, and USB connectivity, remote monitoring and management is built in.
