Description
Original Prusa MK4S — Fast, Precise, and Built to Last
The Original Prusa MK4S is the latest iteration of Prusa’s flagship open-frame 3D printer — the machine that earned its reputation across hobbyist workshops, schools, and companies running large-scale print farms. Building on the widely acclaimed MK4, the MK4S adds a completely redesigned 360° cooling system with a high-performance turbine, a high-flow nozzle, and firmware optimisations that combine to nearly double print speed over the MK3S+ while maintaining Prusa’s signature dimensional accuracy.
Take it out of the box, plug it in, run the automated First Layer Calibration, and you’re printing in about 10 minutes. No assembly required.
360° Cooling — Print Overhangs Without Supports
The redesigned cooling system uses a high-performance turbine fan to deliver even airflow around the entire nozzle circumference. This enables clean overhangs up to 75° without support structures, reducing material waste, print time, and post-processing across virtually every filament type.
High-Flow Nextruder Nozzle
The MK4S ships with a high-flow nozzle that maximises filament throughput, working together with the 360° cooling and optimised firmware to significantly cut print times. The MK4S can print a standard SpeedBoat Race Benchy in around 14 minutes, and a “Bonkers” speed-tuned Benchy in around 8 minutes.
Perfect First Layer, Every Time
The Nextruder’s integrated Loadcell sensor physically measures nozzle-to-bed distance with micron precision — no Live Adjust Z, no manually turned screws. Unlike optical or proximity sensors, the Loadcell isn’t affected by reflective or textured print surfaces, delivering a consistently accurate first layer regardless of which sheet you’re using.
Input Shaper & Pressure Advance — Native, Not Bolted On
The MK4S runs Input Shaper and Pressure Advance natively at the firmware level, eliminating resonance-driven ringing and optimising filament flow through acceleration and deceleration. Combined with the high-flow nozzle, this is what allows the MK4S to run nearly twice as fast as the MK3S+ without sacrificing surface quality.
Direct Drive Nextruder — Handles Flex Materials Easily
The all-metal direct drive Nextruder handles PLA and PETG through to ASA and carbon-fibre-filled filaments with ease — including flexible materials like TPU, which print reliably without the feeding issues common on bowden setups.
Built for Non-Stop Operation
Prusa runs a print farm of over 700 of their own printers 24/7, and the MK4S is engineered to survive that kind of continuous use. The open “bed-slinger” frame — the result of a 10-year design evolution — gives easy access to every part with no lengthy disassembly. No welded or glued components; everything comes apart with a set of Allen keys.
Connectivity & Remote Management
Wi-Fi (with NFC tap-to-connect setup via the Prusa app) and Ethernet for network printing, Prusa Connect for secure remote monitoring, scheduling, and webcam viewing, and full offline operation if you’d rather not connect at all. Prusa doesn’t collect data on your prints or surroundings — connectivity is entirely optional, and the Wi-Fi module can be physically unplugged for high-security environments.
Expandable Ecosystem
Original Prusa Enclosure
Most common materials — PLA, PETG, and even some advanced filaments like PC-CF — don’t need an enclosure. For ASA, ABS, PC, and similar materials that benefit from a stabilised, heated environment, the optional Enclosure adds temperature control, noise reduction, and an available HEPA filtration add-on.
MMU3 Multi-Material
Add the MMU3 for multi-colour printing with up to 5 filaments — Prusa’s fastest and most efficient single-nozzle multi-material solution with minimal purge waste. Available pre-assembled alongside the assembled MK4S for immediate multi-colour printing out of the box.
Upgradeable, Not Disposable
Prusa’s upgrade philosophy means your MK4S isn’t a dead end — firmware updates, nozzle swaps (0.25, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 1.0 mm available), and modular accessories extend the printer’s life for years. If Prusa releases a newer platform, existing owners typically get an upgrade path rather than needing to buy an entirely new machine.
