Bambu Lab Filament Buffer — H2S [SA010]

This genuine Bambu Lab Filament Buffer regulates filament movement on the H2S and H2S Laser, ensuring an appropriate and stable supply of filament to the hotend. It’s the component responsible for smoothing out tension along the feed path, preventing the binding, looping, or inconsistent feeding that can occur as filament travels from spool or AMS to extruder.

What the Filament Buffer Does

As filament feeds toward the extruder, tension along that path needs to stay steady — too much resistance and the feeding motor works against it, too little and filament can loop or feed unevenly. The buffer absorbs these variations in real time, working alongside the H2S’s intelligent detection systems to keep extrusion consistent throughout a print.

AMS Integration & Intelligent Detection

The Filament Buffer integrates with Bambu Lab’s AMS, enabling intelligent detection of both filament presence and potential tangles. This works hand-in-hand with the AMS sensors to catch feeding problems before they cause a failed print — contributing to a smarter, more autonomous printing experience that stops a print rather than wasting material on a tangle or snapped filament.

When to Replace

Inconsistent extrusion traced to filament tension rather than the hotend or nozzle, failure to detect filament presence or breaks, missed tangle detection on external spools when not using the AMS, physical damage to the buffer’s sliders or housing, and as part of general maintenance when servicing the H2S’s filament feed path.
