Bambu Lab AMS 2 Pro — Multi-Colour Printing with Built-In Filament Drying
The Bambu Lab AMS 2 Pro is the second generation of Bambu Lab’s Automatic Material System — adding integrated 65°C filament drying, airtight sealed storage, faster brushless servo feeding, and tool-free maintenance to the proven multi-colour printing platform. Load up to 4 spools, and the AMS 2 Pro automatically feeds the right filament for each colour or material change during your print.
Connect up to 4 AMS 2 Pro units (and 8 AMS HT units) for a maximum of 24 filament options — enabling complex multi-colour designs, multi-material combinations, and soluble support workflows that would be impossible with manual filament swaps.
Built-In 65°C Filament Dryer
The headline upgrade over the original AMS. The AMS 2 Pro features a built-in heating module that dries filament at up to 65°C — keeping moisture-sensitive materials like PETG, PA, PVA, and BVOH print-ready without a separate dryer. Spools auto-rotate during drying for even heat distribution, and RFID automatically configures the correct drying settings for Bambu Lab filaments.
Once dried, the electro-magnetic air vent seals the chamber airtight, preserving filament quality for weeks of printing without re-drying.
Airtight Sealed Storage
The AMS 2 Pro creates an airtight environment after drying, with a colour-changing humidity indicator so you can verify filament condition at a glance. This means you can load spools, dry them once, and print from them over weeks without moisture degradation — a huge workflow improvement over the original AMS where filament was exposed to ambient humidity.
60% Faster Filament Feeding
The brushless permanent magnet synchronous servo motor feeds filament 60% faster than the original AMS, saving an average of 10 minutes per 100 filament changes. On multi-colour prints with frequent colour swaps, this time savings adds up significantly.
20–30% Less Purge Waste
The AMS 2 Pro’s optimised feeding and retraction system produces 20–30% less purge waste per colour change compared to the original AMS. Less purge means less wasted filament, shorter print times, and smaller purge towers.
Tool-Free Maintenance
The original AMS required removing all spools and unscrewing the shell to access snapped filament inside the tubes — a 3–5 minute frustration. The AMS 2 Pro offers direct, tool-free access to filament tubes from the top. Ceramic filament inlets with Vickers hardness of 1200 significantly improve durability and reduce filament wear at the entry point.
RFID Auto-Sync
Load a Bambu Lab RFID filament spool and the AMS 2 Pro reads the material type, colour, and optimal settings automatically — including drying temperature and duration. No manual configuration needed. Third-party filaments without RFID can be configured manually through Bambu Studio.

Important Notes for X1/P1 Series Owners
If replacing an existing AMS with AMS 2 Pro — no additional accessories needed.
If adding AMS 2 Pro as a second unit alongside an existing AMS — an AMS Hub is required.
If your printer has no AMS currently — you’ll need a 4-pin cable, PTFE connector, and filament buffer.
A switching adapter is needed for the drying function on X1/P1 series printers.
Supported Materials
PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, PET, PA, PC, PVA (dried), BVOH (dried), PP, POM, HIPS, Bambu PLA-CF, Bambu PAHT-CF, Bambu PETG-CF, Support for PLA/PETG, and TPU for AMS.
Not supported: TPE, generic TPU, damp PVA, damp BVOH, Bambu PET-CF, Bambu TPU 95A, or generic carbon fibre/glass fibre filled filaments.
