Description
Bambu Lab AMS HT — High-Temperature Drying for Engineering Filaments
The Bambu Lab AMS HT is a single-spool automatic material system designed specifically for high-performance filaments that need serious drying. With a maximum drying temperature of 85°C — 20°C higher than the AMS 2 Pro — it handles the moisture-sensitive engineering materials that standard drying solutions can’t fully dry, including nylon (PA), polycarbonate (PC), carbon fibre composites, and PAHT-CF.
It feeds, dries, and stores a single spool in an airtight, humidity-controlled environment, and integrates into the Bambu Lab AMS ecosystem alongside AMS 2 Pro units for up to 24 filaments total.
85°C Drying — Made for Engineering Materials
Standard filament dryers and the AMS 2 Pro top out at 65°C — sufficient for PLA, PETG, and ABS, but not enough to fully dry nylon, polycarbonate, and advanced composites. The AMS HT reaches 85°C, providing the drying temperature these materials actually need to eliminate moisture completely.
Spools auto-rotate during drying for even heat distribution. RFID automatically configures the correct drying temperature and duration for Bambu Lab filaments. A clear digital display shows real-time temperature, humidity, and remaining drying time.
Airtight Sealed Storage
Once dried, the electro-magnetic air vent seals the chamber airtight, preserving filament quality for weeks without re-drying. During drying, the vent opens automatically based on temperature and humidity readings to speed up moisture removal, then seals when complete. This cycle keeps filament consistently dry and print-ready.
Bypass Filament Outlet
The AMS HT includes a dedicated bypass filament outlet on the back of the top cover, designed for soft or brittle materials that can fail in the standard AMS feeding path. TPU, TPE, Bambu TPU 95A, PET-CF, and other carbon fibre or glass fibre filled filaments feed through this bypass outlet for gentler, more reliable handling.
This means you can dry abrasive CF filaments in the AMS HT and feed them through the bypass without subjecting them to the standard feeding mechanism that isn’t designed for these material types.
60% Faster Feeding
The brushless permanent magnet synchronous servo motor feeds filament 60% faster than the original AMS, reducing filament change time during multi-material prints.
How It Fits in the AMS Ecosystem
The AMS HT is a single-spool unit. Connect it alongside AMS 2 Pro units for a mixed setup — use AMS 2 Pro for standard filaments (4 spools each) and AMS HT for your high-performance material that needs 85°C drying.
Maximum configuration: 4 × AMS 2 Pro + 8 × AMS HT = 24 filament options.
AMS HT vs AMS 2 Pro — Which to Choose
AMS HT (This Product)
Single spool. 85°C drying — designed for nylon, PC, PA-CF, and other engineering materials. Bypass outlet for soft and brittle filaments. Best as a companion unit for high-performance materials.
AMS 2 Pro
Four spools. 65°C drying — suitable for PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, and most standard materials. Better for multi-colour workflows. Higher spool capacity per unit.
Most users will want an AMS 2 Pro for everyday multi-colour printing and add an AMS HT specifically for engineering materials that need higher drying temperatures.
Compatibility
Compatible with all Bambu Lab printers:
Bambu Lab X1C, X1E, X2D
Bambu Lab P1S, P1P, P2S
Bambu Lab H2D, H2S, H2C
Bambu Lab A1, A1 Mini (requires AMS Hub)
Note: The AMS HT cannot dry filament standalone — it must be connected to a printer via the 6-pin bus cable with the printer powered on.
Additional Accessories May Be Required
Depending on your printer and existing AMS setup, you may need a filament buffer, AMS hub, PTFE tube coupler, bus cables, or 4-in-1 PTFE adapter. Check the Bambu Lab Wiki compatibility guide for your specific printer model before ordering.
