Description

Premium Hotend Upgrade for Bambu Lab H2D & H2S

The Phaetus Hotend Conch is a purpose-built performance upgrade for the Bambu Lab H2D and H2S that improves on the stock hotend in every measurable way — higher flow rates, better thermal stability, longer nozzle life, and superior cooling. It delivers up to 50 mm³/s volumetric flow on the H2D, a 25% increase over the standard hotend, letting you print faster without hitting the extrusion limits that cause under-extrusion and rough surfaces at high speeds.

This isn’t just a faster hotend — it’s a more precise one. Micron-level manufacturing with an inner bore surface roughness of Ra ≤ 0.2μm means smoother filament flow, less residue buildup, and more consistent extrusion across thousands of hours of printing.

EndCoat Ultra-Wear-Resistant Nozzle & Heatbreak

The Conch uses Phaetus’s EndCoat surface treatment on both the nozzle tip and heatbreak throat. This precision-applied coating increases surface hardness and abrasion resistance on the areas that wear fastest, extending service life up to 2.5 times longer than an ordinary hardened steel nozzle.

For users printing abrasive materials like PA-CF, PETG-CF, PLA-CF, glass fibre composites, and metal-fill filaments, this means significantly fewer nozzle changes and more consistent bore accuracy over the life of the hotend.

Replacement nozzles are available separately — purchase replacement EndCoat nozzles here.

Copper Heat Block with Ceramic Insulation

The heat block is machined from copper, offering fast heat conduction and resistance to temperatures up to 500°C. This makes the Conch suitable for high-temperature engineering filaments including PA-CF, PC, PPA, and other materials that require sustained nozzle temperatures above 300°C.

A low-thermal-conductivity ceramic insulator sits between the heat block and the cold side of the hotend, creating a sharp thermal barrier that prevents heat from creeping upward. This enhanced thermal boundary keeps the melt zone precisely defined, which is critical for stable extrusion with high-temperature materials that are sensitive to heat creep.

Dendritic Fin Heatsink — Anti-Clog Cooling

The Conch features an advanced heatsink with angled dendritic fins that expand the cooling surface area for rapid heat dissipation. A hollow-chamber extension design further improves airflow, preventing the material clogs caused by thermal expansion in the cold zone.

This cooling architecture is particularly important during long print sessions and when printing materials like PETG and TPU that are prone to heat creep and softening above the melt zone. Better cooling means fewer jams, less maintenance, and more reliable unattended printing.

Micron-Level Precision Manufacturing

The internal bore is finished to a surface roughness of Ra ≤ 0.2μm — mirror-smooth at the microscopic level. This reduces filament drag inside the nozzle, minimises residue buildup over time, and prevents the micro-clogs that gradually degrade print quality. Ultra-precision assembly tolerances also eliminate material leakage between the nozzle and heat block, solving a common failure point in lesser hotend designs.

Flow Rate Performance

The Conch delivers a 25% higher volumetric flow rate compared to the stock hotend:

Up to 50 mm³/s on the Bambu Lab H2D
Up to 40 mm³/s on A1 series printers

This increased throughput is most noticeable on large prints, high-infill models, and thick-wall functional parts where the stock hotend reaches its flow ceiling at higher speeds.

Compatibility

The Phaetus Hotend Conch (this listing) is designed for:

Bambu Lab H2D — both left and right hotend positions
Bambu Lab H2S

For the X1 Carbon, P1P, and P1S, see the Phaetus Hotend Conch / Plus for Bambu Lab X1/P1.
