Description
IckySticky Thin Foam Safe CA — Super Glue That Won’t Destroy Your Foam
Standard super glue melts foam. IckySticky Thin Foam Safe CA is a specially formulated cyanoacrylate that bonds foam materials without melting, distorting, or discolouring them. It also produces virtually no blooming — the white frosted residue that standard CA leaves around the bond area — making it the go-to adhesive for clear parts, canopies, windscreens, and any cosmetic bond where appearance matters.
The thin viscosity flows into joints by capillary action and bonds in 1–5 seconds, giving you the same wicking performance as standard Thin CA but with foam-safe and low-bloom chemistry.
Available in three sizes — 20g, 50g, and 120g.
Three Sizes Available
20g
Compact size for hobby desks and field kits. Popular with RC flyers who carry it in their flight box.
50g
Mid-range option for regular builders working with foam aircraft, terrain, and cosplay.
120g
Workshop bottle for heavy foam work, terrain builders, and anyone bonding foam regularly. Best per-gram value.
All sizes include a pin cap to prevent nozzle clogging between uses.
Why Foam Safe?
Standard cyanoacrylate generates heat during curing (exothermic reaction) and releases fumes that attack foam materials — melting EPS, dissolving XPS, and distorting foam board. Foam Safe CA uses a modified formula that cures with significantly less heat and without the aggressive fumes, keeping foam intact while still producing a strong bond.
The low-odour, low-blooming chemistry also makes Foam Safe CA the better choice for any bonding in poorly ventilated spaces, and for cosmetic bonds where you don’t want white frosting around the joint.
What It Bonds
Foam Materials
Foam board (Depron, dollar tree foam board)
XPS foam (extruded polystyrene — blue/pink insulation board)
EPS foam (expanded polystyrene — white bead foam)
Cell foam and craft foam
Other Compatible Materials
Balsa wood, plywood, carbon fibre, fibreglass, aluminium, metal, resin, ceramic, acrylic, PVC, polystyrene, polycarbonate, PETG, PEEK, and wood
Ideal Applications
RC foam aircraft — wings, fuselages, control surfaces, and motor mounts
Wargaming and tabletop terrain — foam hills, buildings, and dungeon tiles
Cosplay props built from foam board and EVA foam
Clear parts and canopies — no blooming means no frosted residue on windscreens
Any cosmetic bond where visible residue is unacceptable
Bonding in poorly ventilated spaces where low odour matters
Thin Foam Safe vs Standard Thin CA
Standard Thin CA
Strong bond, excellent wicking, bonds in 1–5 seconds. Melts foam. Produces blooming (white frost) around bonds. Strong odour.
Thin Foam Safe CA
Same thin viscosity and wicking action. Same 1–5 second bond time. Won’t melt foam. Virtually no blooming. Low odour. Slightly higher price.
If you don’t work with foam or clear parts, standard Thin CA is fine. If you ever bond foam, clear canopies, or work in enclosed spaces, Foam Safe is worth the upgrade.
Pro Tip — Pair with Foam Safe Activator
For instant curing on foam joints, pair Thin Foam Safe CA with the IckySticky Foam Safe Activator. Spray the activator on one surface, apply Foam Safe CA to the other, and press together for an instant bond. The activator is also foam safe — standard CA activators can damage foam just like standard CA.
