Description
IckySticky Extra Thin Cement — Precision Solvent Cement for Plastic Models
IckySticky Extra Thin Cement is a solvent-based adhesive formulated to bond polystyrene plastic — the material used in the vast majority of plastic model kits and styrene sheet. Rather than gluing surfaces together, the solvent chemically welds them by briefly dissolving the plastic on both sides, fusing the parts into a single solid bond as it evaporates. The result is a clean joint that’s stronger than adhesive bonds from super glue or epoxy.
The extra thin formula has excellent capillary action — hold two parts together, touch the brush to the seam, and the cement wicks along the entire join by itself.
Two Sizes Available
40ml Brush Applicator Bottle
The standard bottle includes a built-in fine pointed brush cap for precise application. The brush reaches into tight spaces, along panel lines, and around small parts without flooding surrounding surfaces. The brush is long enough to reach the bottom of the bottle for consistent application right to the last drop. This is the bottle you use at the workbench.
120ml Refill Bottle
The same extra thin formula in a 120ml refill — three times the volume at a better per-ml price. Pour it into your existing 40ml brush applicator bottle when it runs low. If you build regularly, the refill saves money and keeps you stocked without running out mid-project.
How to Use
Pre-Assembly Method
Apply a thin coat of cement to one mating surface, then press the two parts together. Hold for 10–20 seconds while the solvent begins to weld the plastic.
Post-Assembly Method
Hold or clip the two parts together in their final position, then touch the brush tip to the seam line. The extra thin formula wicks along the join through capillary action, welding the parts together without needing to separate and reassemble them. This method gives the cleanest results with minimal excess cement.
What It Bonds
Compatible Materials
Polystyrene (PS) — the standard material for plastic model kits from Tamiya, Revell, Airfix, Bandai, and others
Styrene sheet and strip — for scratch-building, kitbashing, and scratchbuilt details
ABS plastic — with reduced effectiveness compared to polystyrene
Not Compatible
Extra Thin Cement does not bond resin, metal, wood, or 3D printed parts (PLA, PETG, etc.). For bonding 3D printed parts, use super glue (CA adhesive) instead.
Ideal Applications
Scale Modelling
Plastic scale model kits — aircraft, armour, ships, cars, sci-fi
Gundam and mecha model kits (polystyrene types)
Miniature terrain and diorama construction
Scratchbuilding
Styrene scratchbuilding and kitbashing
Custom detail fabrication from styrene sheet and strip
Any polystyrene bonding that needs a clean, precise weld
