Description
Extruder with Filament Sensor for Bambu Lab P1S / P1P / X1 / X1C
This compatible replacement extruder swaps in for the original on the Bambu Lab P1S, P1P, X1, and X1C, with the filament break sensor already built in. It combines a heat-resistant housing with hardened steel dual gears, giving stronger, more consistent filament grip and a longer service life than gears that wear down under heavy use.
It’s an aftermarket alternative to the Bambu Lab part, made as a complete unit so you replace the whole feeding mechanism in one go.
Hardened Steel Dual Gears
Two hardened steel helical gears grip the filament from both sides, which increases extrusion force and helps prevent slipping. The gears carry a DLC (diamond-like carbon) nano-coating for extra wear resistance, so the teeth keep their grip over many more print hours. That matters most with abrasive filaments and heavy-use machines.
Built-In Filament Break Detection
The unit includes a sensor that supports filament break detection. If filament snaps or runs out mid-print, the printer can catch it and pause instead of carrying on printing nothing, which helps prevent failed prints and wasted time.
Hollow Design Helps Dissipate Heat
The extruder uses a hollow design that helps shed heat from the motor. Keeping the motor cooler reduces the chance of heat travelling up into the extruder and causing it to overheat and clog.
Durable, Heat-Resistant Construction
Heat-resistant plastics make up the extruder body, combined with CNC-machined aluminium alloy parts and upgraded POM components. The result is a unit built to hold up to heat, vibration, and continuous printing.
Suitable Filaments
PLA, PETG, TPU, and other commonly used 3D printing filaments.
When to Replace
Clicking, grinding, or skipping from the extruder, filament slipping or chewed marks from the drive gears, inconsistent extrusion or under-extrusion despite dry filament and a clear nozzle, filament break detection not triggering or giving false alarms, visible wear or damage to the gears or housing, and as an upgrade to a more durable gear set.
Choose Your Version
For P1S / P1P
Fits the Bambu Lab P1S and P1P.
For X1 / X1C
Fits the Bambu Lab X1 and X1 Carbon.
Select the version that matches your printer. They are not interchangeable.
Installation
Power off and unplug the printer before starting. Remove the toolhead covers, disconnect the extruder and sensor wiring, swap in the new extruder, and reconnect everything, making sure the connectors are fully seated and the cables aren’t pinched when you refit the covers. Refer to the Bambu Lab Wiki guide for replacing the extruder on your printer model for the full step-by-step procedure.
Compatibility
Bambu Lab P1S, P1P
Bambu Lab X1, X1 Carbon
Not compatible with the A1 series, P2S, X2D, or H2 series, which use different extruders.
