Eryone PP (Polypropylene) is a tough, semi-rigid engineering filament that combines genuine flexibility with exceptional chemical resistance and a low-density profile. Where most rigid filaments crack under repeated bending, PP flexes and returns to shape thousands of times without failing — making it the natural choice for snap-fit components, hinges, lockable containers, and parts that need to survive both mechanical stress and chemical exposure.

Why Polypropylene?

PP is one of the most widely used plastics in industry precisely because of its unusual combination of properties — a semi-crystalline material with well-balanced hardness and flexibility, low density, and near-total chemical inertness to acids, alkalis, and most organic solvents. Few other FDM filaments can match this specific mix, which is why PP remains the material of choice for chemical containers, automotive components, and repeatedly-flexed parts across real-world industry applications.

Toughness & Flexibility

PP withstands repeated bending and flexing without cracking or fatiguing — a property that’s difficult to replicate with rigid engineering filaments like PETG-CF or PC. This makes it ideal for living hinges, snap-fit closures, and any part subjected to cyclic mechanical stress that would eventually crack a stiffer material.

Lightweight & Low Density

At approximately 0.9 g/cm³, PP is meaningfully lighter than most 3D printing filaments while still delivering solid strength and rigidity in the finished part. This weight-to-strength ratio makes it well suited to aerospace, automotive, and drone applications where every gram matters.

Exceptional Chemical Resistance

PP resists a wide range of organic solvents, acids, and bases far better than PETG, ABS, or PLA. This makes it the practical choice for handles, lockable containers, chemical storage bottles, and lab or industrial components that will contact aggressive chemicals during normal use.

Low Moisture Absorption

Unlike nylon or PETG, PP is close to non-hygroscopic — it doesn’t readily absorb moisture from the air, meaning minimal pre-drying is required before printing and long-term storage is far more forgiving than with moisture-sensitive materials.

The One Real Challenge — Bed Adhesion

PP’s low surface energy is the same property that gives it chemical resistance, but it also means almost nothing sticks to it — including a standard build plate. This is the defining printing challenge with PP. A dedicated PP-specific adhesive, PP printing tape, or a purpose-built PP build plate is essential for reliable first-layer adhesion. Skipping this step is the single most common cause of failed PP prints.
