Description
3D Scanning High Reflective Dot Markers — 3x6mm
These 3x6mm reflective dot markers give featureless or highly detailed objects the trackable reference points that photogrammetry and structured-light 3D scanners rely on for accurate alignment. Each dot has a 3mm reflective centre within a 6mm outer diameter — a size specifically suited to smaller objects, tight surface areas, and detailed scanning work where larger markers would overwhelm the geometry being captured.
Why 3D Scanners Need Reference Markers
Optical 3D scanners align successive scan passes by tracking fixed reference points on the object or in the surrounding space. Smooth, featureless, symmetrical, or highly reflective surfaces give the scanner nothing to lock onto, causing tracking loss, misaligned scans, and gaps in the final point cloud. Applying reflective markers across the object (or the scanning area) gives the scanner reliable, high-contrast points to track continuously, dramatically improving alignment accuracy and reducing scan failures.
3mm/6mm Size — Built for Detail
The 3mm reflective centre is sized for improved detection and alignment accuracy on smaller objects and detailed scanning tasks, where a larger marker would obscure fine surface features or simply not fit the available space. The 6mm outer diameter gives the adhesive backing enough surface area to stay firmly in place throughout a scanning session.
High Reflective Construction
Each marker is built with reflective glass microspheres combined with aluminium plating on a PET film base, delivering strong reflectivity that scanners detect reliably — including in less-than-ideal lighting conditions. This construction is what separates genuine scanning markers from printed dots or generic stickers, which lack the reflective properties scanners are calibrated to detect.
Strong, Removable Adhesive
The adhesive backing holds firmly to metal, plastic, ceramic, and composite surfaces throughout a scanning session, while still peeling away cleanly afterward without leaving residue or damaging the object’s surface — important when scanning finished parts, prototypes, or client objects that need to look untouched once scanning is complete.
Compatible with Most 3D Scanners
These markers work with the majority of handheld and turntable-based structured-light and photogrammetry scanners on the market, making them a general-purpose consumable for any scanning workflow rather than being locked to one specific scanner brand.
How to Use
Peel markers from the backing sheet and apply directly to the object’s surface, or scatter them around a featureless area if applying directly to the object isn’t practical. For best coverage, combine with larger markers (e.g. 6x10mm) on bigger objects, using the smaller 3x6mm markers for detailed or tightly spaced areas. Space markers so at least 3–4 are visible to the scanner from any angle during capture. Peel off after scanning — no cleaning agents required.
