Description
Filament Sensor Base for Bambu Lab A1 / A1 Mini — Compatible Replacement
This compatible filament sensor base replaces the original on the Bambu Lab A1 and A1 Mini toolhead. It sits on top of the extruder unit and is the fixed mounting point for the filament sensor (Hall board), and also the base that the AMS Lite filament hub attaches to. If the base is cracked, broken, or loose, the sensor can’t sit correctly, and filament detection and multi-colour feeding start to fail.
It’s an aftermarket alternative to the Bambu Lab part, made to fit the same position on the A1 series.
What the Filament Sensor Base Does
The base has two jobs on the A1 series:
Mounts the Filament Sensor
It holds the filament sensor (Hall board) firmly on the side of the extruder, so the sensor can reliably detect filament moving in and out, and spot a jam or runout.
Supports the Filament Hub
It’s the base that the filament hub attaches to when you use an AMS Lite. A secure base keeps the hub aligned with the extruder inlet so filament feeds in cleanly.
When to Replace
A cracked, broken, or deformed base, a filament sensor that no longer sits firmly or keeps shifting, filament detection errors or false runout alarms traced to a loose sensor, a filament hub that won’t seat or stay aligned, and as part of a toolhead rebuild after a collision or filament jam.
If the sensor itself is the problem, check the Hall board first. If the sensor is fine but doesn’t mount firmly, the base is the part to replace.
Installation
Power off the printer before starting. The base installs on top of the extruder unit. Refer to the Bambu Lab Wiki guide for replacing the Filament Sensor Base on the A1 series for the full step-by-step procedure, including removing and refitting the filament sensor and hub.
