Basic Matte PETG combines the mechanical advantages of PETG — impact resistance, moisture resistance, and higher heat tolerance than PLA — with a smooth, non-reflective matte surface that hides layer lines. Standard PETG has a glossy, slightly translucent finish that highlights every layer line and surface imperfection. Matte PETG absorbs light instead of reflecting it, producing prints that look cleaner and more professional straight off the build plate.

At $17.99 per KG on a cardboard spool, it’s the same price as Basic PETG with the added benefit of a matte finish — making it one of the best value functional filaments in the range.

Why Matte PETG?

Standard PETG is a fantastic functional filament, but its glossy surface works against it visually — layer lines, Z seam artifacts, and minor extrusion inconsistencies are all amplified by the reflective surface. Matte PETG solves this by absorbing light rather than reflecting it, dramatically reducing the visibility of these print artifacts without sacrificing any of PETG’s mechanical properties.
