Description

Rainbow Colour Shifts That React to Your Touch

Temperature Changing Rainbow PLA combines two of the most eye-catching filament effects into a single spool — thermochromic colour changing and rainbow multicolour transitions. As the filament feeds through your printer, the rainbow colour bands produce vibrant gradient prints with shifting tones across every layer. Then, when the finished print is touched or warmed above approximately 33°C, the thermochromic pigments activate and the colours shift again.

The result is a print that looks different from every angle and changes appearance the moment someone picks it up. It’s a guaranteed conversation starter.

How Does It Work?

The filament contains both thermochromic pigments and multicolour dye segments along its length. The rainbow effect is produced by gradual colour transitions printed into the filament itself — this means every print will have a unique colour pattern depending on where on the spool you start printing and the geometry of your model.

The thermochromic effect activates at approximately 33°C — right around body heat. Touch a print and the colours shift. Set it down and they return as it cools. The two effects layer on top of each other, creating prints that are both multicoloured and heat-reactive at the same time.

Available Variants

Rainbow — A full spectrum multicolour transition with thermochromic colour shifting across the entire range.

Black / Red / Yellow — A warm-toned three-colour transition with thermochromic response. Produces striking gradient prints in darker, bolder tones.

Printing Tips

Temperature Changing Rainbow PLA prints exactly like standard PLA — no special hardware or settings needed. Use a nozzle temperature of 190–220°C, bed temperature of 0–60°C, and print speeds up to 200 mm/s.

Because the rainbow effect depends on colour segments along the filament, taller prints and vase-mode models tend to show the colour transitions most dramatically. Smaller prints may display fewer colour changes depending on how much filament they consume.

Prints left in direct sunlight or warm environments above 33°C may remain in their heat-activated colour state until they cool — this is normal thermochromic behaviour.
