Description

Print Faster Without Sacrificing Quality

The Hardened Steel High Flow (HF) Hotend is an upgraded hotend for the Bambu Lab A1, A1 Mini, and H2 series that significantly increases how much filament the hotend can melt and push through per second. With an optimised melt zone delivering up to 65 mm³/s volumetric flow rate, it reduces print times by up to 30% compared to the standard flow hotend — especially on larger prints, high-infill models, and thick-wall functional parts.

If you’ve ever hit the flow limit on your standard hotend during fast prints and noticed under-extrusion, rough surfaces, or weak layer bonding at higher speeds, the High Flow hotend removes that bottleneck and lets your printer run closer to its mechanical limits.

Standard Flow vs High Flow — What’s the Difference?

The standard hotend is optimised for precision printing, fine detail, and everyday quality. The High Flow hotend is engineered for maximum volumetric throughput — it melts filament faster by using an optimised internal melt zone geometry that increases the contact area between the filament and the heated surfaces.

In practical terms, the High Flow hotend shines on prints that consume large amounts of filament quickly — large models, high infill percentages, thick outer walls, and fast print speeds. For small, highly detailed prints where maximum precision matters more than speed, the standard hotend may still be the better choice.

Available Nozzle Sizes

0.2 mm — Fine detail at higher speeds. Useful for detailed models where you still want the throughput advantage of the high flow melt zone.

0.4 mm — The all-rounder. Fastest everyday printing with a good balance of speed and detail. The most popular choice for users upgrading from a standard flow hotend.

0.6 mm — Fast functional prints. High material throughput for enclosures, brackets, jigs, and larger models. Ideal for abrasive filaments where the wider bore also reduces clogging risk.

0.8 mm — Maximum speed. Best for large structural parts, vase-mode prints, and draft prototypes where layer visibility is acceptable. Exceptional throughput with the high flow melt zone.

Hardened Steel Construction

All four nozzle sizes use hardened steel construction, making this hotend suitable for abrasive filaments including carbon fibre, glass fibre, metal-fill, glow-in-the-dark, and wood-fill composites. The hardened steel resists the abrasive wear that quickly destroys brass and stainless steel nozzles, maintaining a precise bore diameter over extended use.

The combination of high flow and hardened steel makes this hotend particularly well suited to printing large functional parts in engineering-grade composites — the kind of jobs where you need both material throughput and nozzle durability.

Compatibility

This High Flow hotend is compatible with:

Bambu Lab A1
Bambu Lab A1 Mini
Bambu Lab H2D — both left and right hotend positions
Bambu Lab H2S
Bambu Lab H2C — left (lifting) hotend only
Bambu Lab P2S

This hotend is not compatible with the Bambu Lab X1 Carbon, P1P, or P1S — those printers use a different hotend design.

For dual-nozzle printers (H2D), both hotends must be the same nozzle type and size.

Installation

The High Flow hotend uses the same magnetic quick-swap system as the standard hotend. Allow the current hotend to cool, release it from the toolhead, and snap the new High Flow hotend into place. Update the nozzle size and type on the printer screen or in Bambu Studio, and run a full calibration for best results. The swap takes seconds.
