Description
E3D V6 Hardened Steel Nozzle — Abrasion-Resistant for CF, GF & Filled Filaments
This hardened steel nozzle is a direct replacement for the standard brass nozzle in E3D V6 hotends and Prusa printers. Hardened steel resists the abrasive wear that carbon fibre, glass fibre, metal-fill, glow-in-the-dark, and other particle-loaded filaments inflict on brass — maintaining a precise bore diameter over hundreds of hours instead of wearing out in days.
At $6.99, it’s one of the most affordable ways to extend nozzle life and protect your hotend investment when printing abrasive materials.
Why Hardened Steel Over Brass?
Brass nozzles offer excellent thermal conductivity but wear quickly with abrasive filaments — the bore widens, extrusion becomes inconsistent, and dimensional accuracy drops. Hardened steel sacrifices a small amount of thermal conductivity for dramatically improved wear resistance. If you print any abrasive material regularly, the switch to hardened steel pays for itself after the first spool.
For non-abrasive filaments like PLA, PETG, and ABS, brass is perfectly fine and offers marginally better thermal performance. Hardened steel works with all filaments — it’s just not necessary unless you’re printing abrasive materials.
Compatibility
Fits any hotend using the E3D V6 nozzle standard, including Prusa MK3/MK3S/MK3S+, E3D V6 and V6 all-metal hotends, E3D Lite6, and many third-party V6-compatible hotends.
Not compatible with Revo nozzle systems, Bambu Lab hotends, Creality K1/K2 series, or other proprietary nozzle interfaces.
